The Norwegian striker opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a tap-in from close range, before doubling his tally from the penalty spot in the 57th minute.

The win moves City back above Arsenal at the top of the table, with the Gunners having played one game more.

Tottenham's defeat leaves them in fifth place, five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.

The match was played in front of a crowd of 62,017 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Manchester City started the game brightly and took the lead early on when Haaland converted a cross from Riyad Mahrez.

Tottenham grew into the game as the half went on, but they were unable to create any clear-cut chances.
